Unmukt Chand, India’s Under-19 World Cup winning captain has said that lifting that (World Cup) trophy in 2012 was one of the most cherished moments of his life. Chand was also part of the India Under-23 team that lifted the ACC Emerging Teams Cup by beating Pakistan in Singapore on Sunday.
Speaking to NDTV on the first anniversary of the Under-19 World Cup victory, Chand said, “It was one of the best moments of my life. We had worked really hard for the tournament.” He also said that beating Pakistan recently to win the Emerging Teams tournament was a special experience.
In the aftermath of the Under-19 victory, Chand was spoken off very highly by the cricketing fraternity and has been touted to play for India. He had a good run in domestic cricket, but struggled during the Indian Premier league (IPL), 2013.
Speaking about it, he said, “I always feel it is more about disappointing yourself rather others. I think I had a good domestic season before that and a good T20 tournament. IPL didn’t turn out to be that good. It came out as a baptism of fire or something. That’s just how it goes.”
