The middle-order batsman Usman Khawaja had to make way for former Australian captain Ricky Ponting in the third Test starting Friday in Colombo.

 

The centurion in the second Test Shaun Marsh has been retained in the team. Marsh scored 141 runs on debut in Kandy in the second Test. Earlier Australian team suffered a major blow as star bowler of the second Test; Ryan Harris was injured due to a minor hamstring strain.

 

Harris has been replaced by Victoria quick Peter Siddle.
