The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has decided to rope in former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar and former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes to improve the standard of Hyderabad cricket.
President of HCA was quoted in The Hindu as saying, “Yes, the proposal came from the Mumbai side (it may be mentioned here that Rhodes is the fielding coach of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League) and after a unanimous decision we felt it would be appropriate to utilise the services of Rhodes.”
Rhodes will be asked to develop a coaching program for the coaches. “Well, Rhodes will also conduct some sort of courses for the coaches too for better results,” Arshad said.
It is believed that the move to rope in veterans like Vengsarkar and Rhodes is to ensure that Hyderabad comes back into the Elite Group from the existing Plate Group in Ranji Trophy.

This move comes after HCA’s decision to hire former India leg-spinner Sunil Joshi as the Ranji coach for the entire season. Also Noel David already works with Hyderabad team as the fielding coach and trains coaches at the Academy.
