At the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast on Sunday, during the fourth day of the one-off Test match between Zimbabwe and Ireland, an incredible and unusual incident occurred. During their team’s second innings, Ireland’s Andy McBrine and Lorcan Tucker completed an all-run five, causing a lot of excitement on social media.
Cricket fans saw a video of this extraordinary performance go viral very quickly, taking them back to a similar incident in 1992.
The No. 10 and No. 11 batsmen for India, Venkatapathy Raju and Javagal Srinath, also scored an all-run five during a match between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval thirty-two years ago. This moment has since reappeared and captured the attention of viewers once more.
Ireland was struggling at 21/5 within six overs in the recent Ireland vs. Zimbabwe match, as they were chasing a target of 158. Ireland won thanks to the combined efforts of Tucker (56) and McBrine (55).
McBrine hit a delivery from Zimbabwe’s left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava past the covers to create the uncommon all-run five in the eighteenth over. Tendai Chatara of Zimbabwe, a fielder, pursued the ball and stopped it just inside the ropes.

Tucker and McBrine made five runs between the wickets, displaying impressive running skills despite his effort. With McBrine at 55 not out of the game, this outstanding effort went a long way toward helping Ireland rally and win by four wickets.
The 1992 Adelaide Oval match between Australia and India was reminded of by the widely shared footage of this occurrence.
Australia’s fast bowler Craig McDermott attempted a pitch-up delivery, but Srinath hit it through the off-side during India’s opening session. The ball raced towards the boundary and Allan Border, fielding at mid-off, sprinted after it. While Border was able to hold onto the boundary, the Indian tailenders, Raju and Srinath, achieved a remarkable feat in cricket history by running five.
Fans and commentators are talking about these incredible moments on social media as a result of the videos’ rebirth. These events, which occurred decades apart, capture the essence of cricket and the special moments that make the game so popular with people all across the world.
