Goa opener Amogh Dessai’s fighting 99 could go in vain as the hosts still require 118 runs with seven more wickets in hand on the last day to avoid an innings defeat against Vidarbha in the U-19 Cooch Behar plate ‘B’ cricket match being played.
Goa were forced to follow-on by the visitors after they were bundled out for just 188 runs in the first inning in reply to Vidarbha’s 472 all-out.
After forced to follow-on, Goa reached 166 for 3 in the second innings, still requiring 118 runs to avoid an innings defeat with seven wickets in hand on the last day on Sunday with Sharman Vaz and Darshan Misal batting at 15 and six respectively when play ended today.
Left-arm pace bowler Kushal Kakad made most of the damage for Goa in the first inning with figures of 5 for 33.
Only Misal showed some resistance with a gritty knock of 72 in 111 balls with help of 10 hits to the fence.
In the second innings, Amogh Dessai carried the fight to the enemy’s camp as he played aggressively but missed his century as he got out at 99 made in 123 balls with help of 15 hits to the fence and a six. (PTI)
