Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) will lock horns with Gujarat Lions (GL) in the sixth game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at Rajkot on Thursday. Both the teams are filled with match winners and the contest is expected to be one of the most enthralling one. It will be the first time in IPL when MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina will be in opposite camps.
Dhoni will lead the Pune side and will have a crucial role to play as he has been instrumental with the captain’s hat. Brendon McCullum, on the other hand has been explosive in his approach and has the tendency to take the game away in a matter of few overs. McCullum, who has played alongside Dhoni in the last two IPL editions, will hold the key for GL.
Both the team’s success will highly depend on how these two players fare in the game. McCullum will open the batting for Gujarat and will have a key role to play with the new ball as his manic approach can get his side some quick runs up the order. He didn’t enjoy a great run in the opening game against Kings XI Punjab and will look to make an impact in this game.
Dhoni on the other hand bats in the middle order and did not get a chance to bat as the top-order did the job in the opening game against Mumbai Indians. Both the players have made a big name for themselves in this format and will be the players to watch out for tonight.
In February, McCullum retired from international cricket and here is how these two players stats look like:
