It is true that hard work pays off but sometimes luck deprives from achieving fruitful results. One such occasion was spotted during the NatWest T20 Blast encounter between Northamptonshire and Warwickshire on Wednesday at Northampton.

Alex Wakely turned out to be extremely lucky whereas Matthew Wade found himself on the other side of the luck. Aaron Thomason was putting the hard yards in the 14th over, when Wakely flashed hard at a delivery outside off stump. He didn’t manage to get any wood on that but lost the grip in his follow through as his bat was being directed on top of the stumps.

Just about when Wakely’s willow was about to crash on the timber, Wade from behind the stumps instinctively tried to get the bails off with intent to stump the batsman. In rush of blood, perhaps, he obstructed the bat and disturbed the stumps which was eventually ruled as not out by the third umpire. The incident was filled with comedy of errors and interestingly Wakely remained unbeaten 53 as his side — Northamptonshire won by 74 runs.
