Video: Have Cricket Australia unearthed another ‘Mitchell Starc’?

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc is on the verge of becoming the best fast bowler in contemporary cricket. The Australian side is among those teams who keep producing quality pacers one after another. The pace battery of the Australian side has been backbone for them over the years.

On Sunday, Starc rewrote the record books when he became the fastest to 100 ODI wickets. Saqlain Mushtaq, who had taken 53 matches to get there, held the record but Starc took a game less. Earlier in the Sri Lanka tour, he had also picked up 24 wickets from 3 Tests. ALSO READ: Watch coach Darren Lehmann showing Australian players how to face spin bowling

Australia possess a very strong bench strength, especially when it comes to their pacers. With Starc currently at the top of his form, it seems Australian cricket is going to produce another pacer like him.

In the recently played match between National Performance Side of Australia and India A, Tom O’Donnell made his debut in List A format. He is the son of former Australian all-rounder Simon O’Donnell. The 19-year-old Tom truly impressed with his bowling in his debut List A match. Being a left-arm pacer, Tom’s bowling mostly looks like that of Starc and has the ability to bowl similar toe crushing yorkers. Like Starc, Tom too has the advantage of good height and can generate good pace. ALSO READ: Mitchell Starc breaks Saqlain Mushtaq’s 19-year-old record; becomes fastest to 100 ODI wickets

In his debut match, Tom bowled his full quota of 10 overs, conceded 36 runs and claimed the wicket of Kedar Jadhav. A very Starc-like style dismissal. After watching the below video, one will surely say that he may be Australia’s Mitchell Starc.

However, India A had the last laugh as they won the game by 86 runs.
