In the 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Delhi Daredevils (DD) by a whopping margin at their adopted home ground, Visakhapatnam. With this win, the defending champions have moved to the third spot at the points table. Winning the toss, Daredevils skipper, Zaheer Khan, put Mumbai Indians to bat first. MI got off to a quick start with Rohit Sharma and Martin Guptill scoring at a good pace. Krunal Pandya, was promoted at No.3 in the batting order and the youngster did not disappoint as he scored 86 runs off 37 balls and took 2-15 in 2.1 overs. Chasing a Mumbai Indians 206-4 in 20 overs, Delhi Daredevils never looked in putting up a fight as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Quinton De Kock (40 runs) was the only one who looked like taking the team close to their total but lacked support from other end. Sanju Samson (6 runs), Karun Nair (8 runs) and JP Duminy (9 runs) fell cheaply while Rishabh Pant (23 runs) got off to a start but couldn’t convert it to a big score. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah’s 4-0-13-3 put a check on the Daredevils and he well supported by Krunal Pandya, Harbhajan Singh and Vinay Kumar. It was an off day for the visitors as they looked out of sorts in both the departments. Their captain, Zaheer Khan, was the most economical bowler for them with 4-0-23-1 while Chris Morris and Shahbaz Nadeem chipped in with a couple of wickets but were expensive. With this win, Mumbai Indians have moved closer to the playoffs whereas Delhi Daredevils need to win two out of their remaining three matches to qualify.
