In the previous video from this series, we brought to you some well known English personalities, who spoke about their favourite modern-day cricketers. Now they reveal their favourite former cricketers.

For Jim Carter, the favourite cricketer in his growing-up years was former England fast-bowler Frederick Trueman, also known as ‘Fiery Trueman.’ He was everything a fast bowler should be like; strong, temperamental and aggressive. He was a true hero for kids like Carter. Another cricketer he revered was the England legend Geoffrey Boycott.

Greg James idolized Graeme Hick in his childhood. He found Hick absolutely a pleasure to watch. His fluent batting and great personality inspired James so much so that he wanted to grow up becoming like him. Another English player he liked the most during his childhood was Dominic Cork, on whom he remodelled his bowling action as well. He changed his action again after Darren Gough and then again after Allan Donald.

Stephen Fry was awestruck by former England captain Tony Greig’s towering personality. He found him to be an astonishing batsman having an inimitable style. He remembers Greig keeping his collars up all the time, and he himself aping him for at least two years.
