The Newlands ground in Cape Town is one of the iconic international venues across the globe. The ground is surrounded by beautiful mountains and offers a great sight to every cricket viewer.
In the video below, which is South Africa’s tour diary shared by Proteas Cricket on their official YouTube channel, cricketers are seen talking about the beautiful ground. Newlands is known as one of the traditional New Years Day test venues. The beautiful mountain in the background, railway station and the Castle Brewery just makes the view irresistible.
Cricketers, commentators and fans also spoke about how people and cricketers from other countries enjoying playing a match at this venue. Newlands is certainly one of the most loved cricket venues and not just cricketers even the fans love to witness live action at this venue.
The second Test of the Basil D’Oliverira Trophy between South Africa and England was played at this venue and it turned out to be a good one for the home team. After suffering a defeat in the first Test of the four-match series, South Africa somehow made a comeback and managed to draw the second Test where
England piled a huge number of runs. With couple of Test more to go, the onus is now on the home side as the visitors are leading the series by 1-0.
