It was the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under in 2014 at Melbourne, Johnson was steaming in and testing Kohli’s Achilles heel with menacing pace and bounce along with fiery words. Kohli didn’t stay quiet and fought fire with fire as he gave it back to the left-arm pacer. During this course, Rahane was at the other end and saw Johnson stepping on the back foot as Kohli was not only unleashing some intimidating words but also some exquisite strokes. Initially, Rahane thought of calming his partner down but soon when he noticed that it was affecting Johnson’s game. He decided not to stop Kohli and let him continue the way he was responding to Johnson as it was helping their cause.
The duo stitched a mammoth partnership of 262 runs between them and both scored centuries. The match resulted in a draw but this incident certainly made it to the highlight of the game.
