Video: When Ben Stokes turned ‘selfie-guru’ for a fan and won hearts

There was a time when taking autograph from a player used to be a big deal. Fans would wait for hours to get a personalised autograph in their diary or book from their favourite cricketer and would preserve it for a long time. But the advent of smart phones completely changed the scenario and further the ones equipped with front cameras brought the ‘selfie’ culture into being. These days, all the fans want is to get a selfie clicked with their favourite players. In a recent incident which happened during the ongoing EnglandSri Lanka Lord’s Test, a female fan of English cricketer Ben Stokes was ready with cell phone to capture a selfie with him. However, it seemed that she was not aware of how to go about it. The cricketer, who is not participating in the match, was present outside the boundary rope and came to her rescue. Stokes helped the lady take a selfie with him and won hearts with his gesture. The above short video, which captured this incident, was shared by ECB’s official Facebook page with the caption: “Selfie fail… Ben Stokes to the rescue.”
