Every cricketer who plays the game at the highest level wishes to play a Test at the home of cricket — Lord’s. At 42, many others would not even think of it, but Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq not only played his maiden Lord’s Test at this age but also celebrated it in style as he hit an unbeaten hundred on Thursday against England on Day One of the First Test. The pumped-up skipper kept a promise he made to the Pakistan army during team’s preparatory camp ahead of the tour in Abbottabad. The moment he reached to the three-figure mark, he took off his helmet, saluted his teammates who were standing at the balcony and then did 10 push-ups on the ground. Video of his act was shared by England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB’s) official Facebook page.

“It was my promise to the army guys in the Abbottabad camp that I’d do ten push-ups whenever I score hundred in England,” Misbah said at post-match presser. He further revealed that the salute was for the Pakistan flag. The 42-year old player also dedicates his ton to his wife. “I dedicate this hundred to my wife. She is always fasting when I am playing a match,” said Misbah.

The Pakistan captain’s knock also set the Twitter world abuzz, as former cricketers and his current team-mates took to their official accounts and post congratulatory messages. Here are a few select tweets on the same:
