Opener Amit Paunikar‘s big hundred for Railways went in vain as Vidarbha prevailed by one run via VJD method in the rain-interrupted Vijay Hazare Trophy Central Zone cricket match at Indore on Friday.
After being sent into bat, Railways scored a decent 242 for six, built around Paunikar’s 150-run knock.
None of the other Railways batsmen could do much even as Paunikar held the fort from one end and single-handedly helped his side reach a competitive total.
Sahdab Khan was the next best scorer for Railways with a contribution of 20 runs before being run out. Paceman Shrikant Wagh took three wickets for Vidarbha, giving away 59 runs.
Vidarbha were given revised target of 213 runs from 46 overs, which they achieved by losing six wickets. When VJD method was applied, Vidarbha emerged winners by one run.

Opener Akhsay Kolhar was the highest scorer in Vidarbha’s win with his 90-run knock off 107 balls. Shalabh Shrivastava contributed 48 runs for his side. Left-arm spinner Ashish Yadav took two wickets for Railways.
