A round-up of the Elite C matches in round ten of the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy

In Chennai, it was a day of no results with Assam vs Services and Jharkhand vs Tripura matches in Elite C, Round 12 of the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy abandoned with a ball being bowled.

The third match, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, did get underway with Bengal’s innings completed, but 14 overs in to the Haryana’s innings rain forced the their abandonment with the match ending in no result.

After being put in to bat in a rain turnicated 21-over-a-side match, Bengal huffed and puffed to 140 for 9, riding on skipper Manoj Tiwary’s 43-ball 60. Opener Vivek Singh added 30 while the next best was just 11 from lower-order bat Anustup Majumdar.

For Haryana, pacers Mohit Sharma, Harshal Patel and Arun Chaprana claimed two wickets each while India internationals – Yuzvendra Chahal and Jayant Yadav picked one each.

In reply, Haryana were in dire straits at 69 for 6 before rain haled play. Sahabaz Ahmed picked 2 for 18 in his four overs while Ashok Dinda, Ishan Porel and Writtick Chatterjee claimed one wicket each.

All the six teams shared points and that meant Haryana and Jharkhand maintained their joint-top spots in the points tally with 24 points while Services moved to thirds spot with 22 points. Bengal remain on sixth with 14 points and Assam continue to be at the bottom joining Jammu and Kashmir on four points
