The T20 format is made for explosive batters, hence it is quite difficult for batsmen who are usually used to playing ODI or Test cricket to have a good outing in the format. In the IPL clash between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings, Vijay Shankar scored 69 runs in 54 balls,
CSK lost wickets early on in the match as they were chasing the grip get of 184 runs. Vijay Shankar came to bat at the 4th place, keeping a tight grip, but then failing to post big number.
Vijay only scored a six and 5 boundaries. He, along with MS Dhoni, scored only 84 runs in 9.2 overs. After the match, Vijay turned out to secure an embarrassing record for scoring the slowest fifty in IPL.

The slow knocks by Vijay and Dhoni caused CSK failing to chase their target. Vijay had been given lot of lifelines by DC, but he failed to make out of the opportunity and eventually fell.
