All eyes will be on Virat Kohli when the Indian team will get down to business in the first Test of the 2-match series against Bangladesh. The first Test will be played in Chennai on September 19 while the second will be played in Kanpur on September 27.

Kohli announced his retirement from the T20I format back in June following India’s T20 World Cup triumph. This means that his fans will now be only able to see him play for the Indian team in the ODI and Test format.

The 35-year-old has a great chance to claim a remarkable world record when he steps out to bat against Bangladesh in the first Test. The star batter only needs 58 runs to cross the 27,000 run mark in international cricket. Legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for crossing 27,000 runs the fastest, doing so in 623 innings.

Kohli has so far played 591 innings in his career, scoring 26,942 runs. If he can score 58 more runs in his next 8 innings, which looks highly likely, he will become the first cricketer in the 147-year history of international cricket to reach 27,000 runs in less than 600 innings.

He will also only become only the fourth player after Tendulkar, Australia’s Ricky Ponting and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara to cross the 27,000-run mark in international cricket.
