India star batter Virat Kohli is set to train with Delhi’s team on Tuesday, January 28 ahead of what will be his first appearance in the domestic tournament since 2012. Delhi coach Sarandeep Singh confirmed the 36-year-old’s availability for their final group stage fixture which is set to be played against Railways from January 30 at the Arun Jaitley stadium.
This comes after BCCI had recently issued guidelines to contracted players, stating that they will have to feature in domestic cricket when not on national duty. These guidelines came following the Men in Blue’s comprehensive 3-1 defeat against Australia in Border-Gavaskar series.
Kohli had opted out of Delhi’s previous Ranji Trophy clash against Saurashtra due to a neck injury. However, the out-of-form batter is all set to make his return to domestic cricket in Delhi’s upcoming encounter.
Over the last couple of days, photos and videos have emerged on social media of Kohli working with former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting coach Sanjay Bangar at a training facility in Mumbai.
The final round of the Ranji Trophy will conclude by February 2, just in time for India’s 3-match ODI series against England which is set to commence from February 6. Kohli is a part of the Men in Blue’s squad which will take on The Three Lions ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy that will commence from February 19.
