Virat Kohli has become the sole holder of the third spot among batsmen with highest 50-plus run-scores in Twenty20 internations (T20Is) after his unbeaten 56-run knock during India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2016 match. Before the match, Kohli was tied jointly for the third spot with Tillakaratne Dilshan as they both had 12 50-plus scores. Kohli has played 36 T20Is and now has 13 50-plus scores. Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle top the list with 15 and 14 scores above fifty respectively. Rohit Sharma is at joint fifth position in the list with David Warner and Shane Watson of Australia. McCullum and Gayle have featured in 71 and 45 T20Is respectively. Dilshan has played 73 whereas Rohit has appeared in 53 T20Is. Kohli, on the other hand has played just 36 T20Is and hence the pace at which he has scored 50-plus scores is better than all of the above. Martin Guptill, Mahela Jayawardene and Hamilton Masakadza are next in the list with 10 50-plus scores each. Kohli’s rate at scoring above 50 in terms of every match played is a staggering 0.361 i.e. a 50-plus score is round the corner in between his third and fourth match on an average. Mohammad Shahzad of Afghanistan is next in the list. JP Duminy with his eight scores above 50 tops the list for South Africans. He is joined by Alex Hales, Mohammad Hafeez, Marlon Samuels, Kumar Sangakkara, Umar Akmal and Yuvraj Singh; all of whom have eight 50-plus scores.
