Virat Kohli was seen with his beau Anushka Sharma during Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s (RCB) match against Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015. During the rain interruption at M Chinaswamy, players from both sides made the way back to the pavillion. ALSO READ: Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik get into a heated argument with Kumar Dharmasena

However Kohli, after getting back to the pavillion, immediately made his way to a corridor, next to the VIP box, where Bollywood actress Sharma, was watching the match from. Hindustan Times reported that this was a breach of protocol as the match was techincally still alive and players don’t have the liberty to interact with non-players in that period. Kohli has been involved in plenty of controversies in the past, including showing crowds in Australia the middle finger during a match, displaying dissent against umpire decision and getting involved in tiffs with fellow player. He seems to have added to the list with this incident.

An Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) authority was of the view that Kohli’s actions were immature, considering he is the captain. “He is the captain of the team, so he is very much aware of the rules that apply to players and more so to a captain. Nobody is allowed to meet players while the match is on. And, players can’t go out of their designated area to meet anyone either. We will definitely look into the matter and inform the BCCI,” the ACSU officer said.

“It is unbecoming of a player. Players’ wives and girlfriends do attend matches but they sit in a separate enclosure. I’ve never come across anyone meeting them while the match is on. One can imagine a newcomer doing that but not a seasoned player who is aware of the protocol,” a different ACSU officer with past IPL experience stated.
