India’s star batsman Virat Kohli, who is playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has went past batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record of more than 500 runs (as team’s captain) in different Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons. Tendulkar had scored 618 and 553 runs as Mumbai Indians cpatain in the 2011 and ‘12 IPL seasons respectively. Kohli, now has three IPL seasons in his kitty where he has scored runs in excess of 500 as captain of his side. Kohli scored an unbeated 108-run knock today and went past the 500-run mark for IPL 9. He scored those many runs off just 58 deliveries. Watching Kohli bat was simply breathtaking. It was not all slog, but timing and placement thrown in as well. According to a report by Times of India, Kohli now averages 541 runs from eight T20s in this year’s IPL. He has scored runs at an incredible average of 90.16. With a century in today’s match, Kohli has also become the first skipper to score two centuries in a season. Besides, Tendulkar and Kohli, other batsmen who have scored more than 500 runs in any IPL season are Gautam Gambhir and David Warner.
