Daniel Vettori named Virat Kohli as the captain of his all-time XI despite the presence of Ricky Ponting (as opener!) in the team. Vettori currently coaches the Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore. In a video posted by Lord’s Cricket Ground, Vettori named a motley lot of cricketers whose careers have spanned across over four decades, from Richard Hadlee to Kohli in the same team. He also picked Sangakkara and Ponting (as mentioned above) as well as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and AB de Villiers. Another odd placement was that of Jacques Kallis, whom he named 12th man. He mentioned that Kallis should be a member of the team and not the 12th man, but there was no place left for him.

For spinners, Vettori went for the safest options, picking both Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan. Surprisingly, Hadlee is the only New Zealand cricketer in the list. Glenn McGrath is the other fast bowler in the side.
