India batsman Virat Kohli apparently hurt his left thumb while playing for his team Royal Challengers Bangalore in a Champions League Twenty20 match against South Australia Redbacks at Bengaluru.

Kohli made a diving effort while trying to save a boundary in the 17th over of South Australia’s innings. He failed to stop the ball, hit by Daniel Harris off the bowling of Dirk Nannes, and in the process injured his left thumb.

Kohli, who has been named in the squad for India’s five-match home ODI series against England starting October 14, left the field and was seen getting some ice treatment on his swollen left thumb from coach Ray Jennings at the sidelines.
