MS Dhoni once again proved why he is the best finisher in limited-overs format of the game on Saturday. Chasing a stiff total of 177 against the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune in match 24 of 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), Rising Pune Supergiant’s (RPS) former captain Dhoni played a brilliant knock to register their third win in the tournament. Dhoni came to bat when RPS lost their second wicket in the form of skipper Steven Smith at the score of 98 from 13.1 overs. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: RPS vs SRH, Match 24
Dhoni started slowly and the run rate began to shoot up. He soon lost two partners from the other end. The well-set Rahul Tripathi fell to an exceptional piece of fielding from Rashid Khan while Ben Stokes could not add enough on the board. Opener Tripathi once again played an impressive knock in between, scoring 59 off 41. Further, Dhoni and Manoj Tiwary started taking on the SRH bowlers and in not time Dhoni’s scoring rate shot up.
From last three overs, RPS needed 47, out of which Dhoni scored 29 from just 12 deliveries. Dhoni started hitting by taking on young Mohammad Siraj in the 18th over by scoring 17 runs against him, then plundered 19 from Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 19th over. In the final over, bowled by Siddarth Kaul, RPS needed 11 and Dhoni pulled it off in style with a boundary in the final ball when they needed two.
Watch the incredible finish.
From being criticised for his indifferent form to emerging as the hero, the Twitterati could not stop expressing their glee on the return of one of India’s favourite sons.

Might not do it as consistently now, but when he does, you’re reminded of why there isn’t and can’t be another M.S.Dhoni #RPSvSRH #TheBoss
