Sania Mirza was live on Twitter on Wednesday. She used a hashtag “#sananswers. The Indian tennis star patiently answered questions from fans around the world. A fan asked Sania about her favourite cricketer, of course he put a condition ‘besides Shoaib Malik’. Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni may have captured the country’s attention now but like a true 90s Indian kid, she was quick to answer ‘Sachin Tendulkar‘.

Sania also named her favourite singles Tennis star and the answer is far from surprising. Roger Federer was her answer.
Coming to cricket, this is a sport very close to her heart. She is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. It is no surprise that she is a Tendulkar fan. The Master Blaster played international cricket for 24 years, in between 1989 to 2013 and notched up a number of batting records.

It is a mutual admiration club. Last year, Tendulkar said in an interview that Sania had inspired a generation of Indians. When Tendulkar retired in 2013, in an interview with Times of India, Sania said, “Sachin Tendulkar has been my inspiration. I am thrilled at Sachin being selected for the Bharat Ratna – he deserves it. I remember the day I won the Wimbledon junior title. I was just 15 years old. That day, Sachin gifted me a car with his signature — at that time, I did not know who Sachin was!
But then I learned Sachin is not only a legendary cricketer but also excellent at tennis. In 2006, Sachin came to Kolkata to play an exhibition match. Having suffered a leg injury, I was asked to be a referee and Sachin played in that match!”
