Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) super star Virat Kohli praised his team’s batting lineup after they secured a 11-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli stated that they focused on timing the ball and hitting naturally instead of forcing the shots.
Coming to bat, Virat Kohli played a spectacular knock of 70 off 42 balls, that too while stitching up a 95-run partnership with Devdutt Padikkal (50 off 27 balls) for the second wicket.
“Look, we’ve had three pretty average games at home and we discussed a few things we need to get right as a batting unit and we applied ourselves well to get the total on board,” Kohli said.
“The pitch wasn’t as flat as the score makes it look. Dew made the ball come on nicely in the second half and credit to Rajasthan for coming out and playing some good shots,” he added.
This victory marked the first victory for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at their home ground. RCB secured this win after losing three consecutive defeats.
Coming to the match Josh Hazlewood scalped four wickets in a brilliant fast-bowling spell to help Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs in their Indian Premier League match here on Thursday.
Chasing 206 for a win, RR made 194 for 9 in 20 overs to lose their fifth match on the trot. Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored for RR with 49, while Dhruv Jurel chipped in with 47.
For RCB, Hazlewood (4/33), Krunal Pandya (2/31), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/50) and Yash Dayal (1/33) were the wicket takers.
Earlier, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal struck fifties to help Royal Challengers Bengaluru post 205 for 5. Kohli (70 off 42 balls) and Padikkal’s (50 off 27 balls) second wicket stand of 95 runs was the highlight of the RCB innings after being invited to bat.
