Virat Kohli has been in record breaking form during the ongoing Test series against Australia Down Under. He has now become the second Indian after Rahul Dravid to score over 500 runs in a Test series in Australia. Kohli achieved the mark during Day Three of the fourth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Dravid had achieved it during the 2003-04 tour Down Under.
Kohli now has the most runs for a No. 4 batsman in a Test series in Australia. Sachin Tendulkar held the earlier milestone when he scored 480 runs (while batting at No. 4) during the 2007-08 tour. India have banked on Kohli’s form through this series and he has been delivering with some impact performances.
Kohli started the series off with a ton in Adelaide in the first innings. However, his ton in the second innings stole the limelight as it nearly helped India chase a huge total. He then hit another ton, this time during the third Test in Melbourne, and it became his highest Test score.
