India star batter Virat Kohli stands on the cusp of breaking another huge record in one-day cricket. The 36-year-old is just 37 runs away from surpassing the 14,000-run mark in the format.

Kohli will have a great chance to surpass the mark in India’s Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh which is set to be played in Dubai on Thursday.

Kohli has so far scored 13,963 runs in 297 matches in the one-day format. With an amazing average of 57.93, the batter has played several match-winning knocks in the format. If he does manage to score 37 runs against Bangladesh, then he will also become the fastest player in history to surpass 14,000 runs in ODIs.

Despite his countless records, Kohli’s form in the format hasn’t been anything impressive and he also failed to make an impact with the bat in the recently-concluded 3-match ODI series against England.

The Indian team and the fans will be hoping that Kohli regains his form in the Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh and then performs well against arch-rivals Pakistan as well in the marquee clash on Sunday.
