Johannesburg: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batting coach Trent Woodhill has cited Virat Kohli‘s consistency accompanied by holistic approach towards his fitness and innings as the reasons behind the star batsman’s meteoric rise. The 27-year-old demonstrated his batting prowess with finesse in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) season as he accumulated a staggering 973 runs at an equally astounding average of 81 in the lucrative T20 league. Woodhill, who has been associated with the national teams of Pakistan and New Zealand, said the Indian Test skipper, who is generally known for his classical approach towards the game, didn’t have to manufacture shots thanks to his sound mechanics. According to the Australian, Kohli was able to use his muscle memory and a sharp mind to hit the ball exactly where he wants it to go every time, Sport24 reported. Earlier, Virat Kohli, India‘s star batsman came together with music maestro AR Rahman for composing the official anthem of Premier Futsal League. Kohli, who met the legendary musical genius, tweeted a picture of him with Rahman through his official Twitter handle. Kohli said in his tweet that he feels privileged to have met Rahman, and having received the opportunity to spend some time with him. He called Rahman a ‘genius’ and added that he is a classic example of ‘humility’. He finally thanked Rahman calling him ‘Sir’. Rahman is widely considered one of the finest music directors of this generation and arguably the best India has ever produced since independence. Kohli is a cricket giant, and perhaps the most complete batter in international cricket along with AB de Villiers. Thus, it was a meeting of two geniuses of their respective fields.
