Virender Sehwag is a Twitter hero. During his playing days he mesmerised all with his power-packed batting, and since retirement he has been reining Twitter. From his hilarious birthday wishes to take on social causes to congratulating other national heroes, Sehwag has been winning hearts of Twitterati just like he did with his batting. The Mithali Raj-led Indian side finished runners-up after an agonising 9-run defeat against England in the final at Lord’s. Sehwag met the girls and shared an image of his meeting, posing with Jhulan Goswami, Harmanpreet Kaur, Veda Krishnamurty, Ekta Bisht, Poonam Raut and Rajeshwari Gayakwad and captioned the image: “What a joy and pleasure to meet these wonderful girls who make us so proud.”

It was Harmanpreet’s whirlwind 115-ball 171 in the semi-final against Australia that guided India to the final. Sehwag happens to be her idol. The Moga girl took to Twitter and thanked her idol, “Thank You @virendersehwag Paaji for hosting us, It was our pleasure to Entertain the Entertainer.”

Harmanpreet has been rewarded with the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for her stellar show in the tournament by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and the girls have been rewarded with several rewards from around the nation. The BCCI too announced a cash award of INR 50 lakhs to each member of the side and INR 25 lakhs for the support staff.
