India’s stand-in skipper for the Adelaide Test, Virender Sehwag expressed on Saturday that his side will perform well in the upcoming tri-series also involving Sri Lanka, saying they are still world champions.
“We are still the world champions,” Sehwag said.
“Tests are different from ODIs. Australians were better and so they won the series but we care about our performance as well,” he told reporters after the match.
India were crushed in the fourth Test by 298 runs as Australia registered a series clean sweep over India on Saturday. Chasing 500 runs to win, India were bundled out for 201 on the fifth day morning.
Indian captain Sehwag was the top-scorer in the chase, slamming 62 runs off 53 balls with the help of 12 boundaries.
