India standing-in captain Virender Sehwag on Monday hinted that he is open to moving down the order after senior batsmen retire.
Though, he reminded that such a possibility does not exist in the current scenario.
“Not now. Not in this team, because we have a very good middle-order. When they retire, I’ll think about it,” Sehwag said was quoted saying in TOI.
When asked about a few imminent retirements, he said: “It depends on the combination, who’s the captain, and who’s going to retire.”
Sehwag, who made his debut as a middle-order batsman in South Africa, took up the opening slot on then-skipper Sourav Ganguly’s advice.
He went on to excel as an opener and became one of the most successful batsmen of his generation.
