Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was a revelation when he first broke into international cricket. He won many a heart with his swashbuckling display of batting and wide range of strokes. In his second innings post retirement, he has proved to be a revelation again, as he has gained the reputation of being the ‘Nawab of Twitter’ with his witty and pleasing tweets. In virtually no time, he has gained a cult following on the microblogging site, with his fans waiting passionately for his next tweet. His funny birthday wishes and immaculate take on social issues makes his posts special.

On Tuesday, Sehwag was at his best once again, when he commented on a Sachin Tendulkar tweet. The master blaster, who was Sehwag’s opening partner, teammate and has been his mentor and dear friend for long, tweeted his best wishes to Team India on completing a win at Kolkata Test as well as the series and also on becoming No. 1 in Tests. Here is what he wrote:

Sehwag, who is commentating these days for the India – New Zealand series, was quick to comment on it in his own inimitable style. He asked his ‘God’ Tendulkar to wish not just the team, but the commentators too. His tweet read:

Later in the evening, Tendulkar came up with his reply to Sehwag’s tweet. He wrote, “Jiyo mere Lala….Tathaaaastuuuuu!!!” The translation of his tweet in English reads ‘God bless you my son. I grant you the wish.’

It is notable here that the word ‘Jiyo’ that was featured in his tweet is the name of IPL franchise Mumbai Indians’ (MI) owner Mukesh Ambani’s ambitious 4G internet service. Sehwag did not let go this opportunity of trolling Tendulkar and posted another tweet taking a dig at his MI connection. His tweet read:

It will be interesting to see whether Tendulkar comes up with a reply to this tweet and takes the conversation forward or not. Sehwag has made a stunning comeback to the commentary box for this series after his spectacular debut during the ICC World T20 2016 this year. He has continued to entertain the viewers with his hilarious puns and one-liners in the series and has brought it alive.
