Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag created lot of furore when he claimed that he did not know who Vinoo Mankad and Pankaj Roy were. But on Sunday, on the occasion of legendary Pakistani batsman Zaheer Abbas‘ birthday, the dashing opener from India proved that his knowledge of cricket history is not as bad as it is perceived to be. Sehwag wished the Pakistani batting great Abbas — who was famously termed the Asian Bradman — in his unique style on Twitter, highlighting that his was the only wicket taken by another legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar in Test cricket. However, Sehwag’s tweet did not mention the fact that Gavaskar had also dismissed Abbas in ODI cricket as well. Nevertheless, the doubters would certainly have got some answers when Sehwag mentioned the fact in his birthday message for the current president, Abbas.

Abbas, who terrorised bowlers all around the world during his playing days, enjoyed a terrific run against India. Out of his 78 Tests for Pakistan, as many as 19 were against India in which he piled up runs at ease. Abbas scored 5,062 runs in Tests at 44.79 with 12 centuries and 20 half-centuries, with a career-highest of 274. In 62 ODIs, he managed 2,572 runs but his average was comparatively higher, at 47.62. Abbas struck 7 centuries and 13 half-centuries in ODI cricket.
