Rohit Sharma made a return to Ranji Trophy after a decade, but his comeback could only last for 19 balls. Mumbai won the toss and had decided to bat first against Jammu and Kashmir at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Rohit Sharma was playing this domestic tournament for the first time since 2015.
Rohit’s poor form against New Zealand and Australia continued here as well. He was playing in this match as BCCI made it mandatory for senior players to play in domestic tournaments.
It was expected that Rohit would gain his form if he played in this tournament. But Jammu and Kashmir pacer Umair Mir did not let him settle. Rohit tried to pull a shot from his bat, but could not succeed in it.

Rohit started the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, Jaiswal got dismissed cheaply soon. Rohit had no response to Umair’s strong bowling. The added factor was that he bowled two consecutive overs to Rohit. Eventually, Rohit got caught by Paras Dogra. He tried to pull the ball, but it hit the edge and went to the off side.
