Karachi: Following the T20 and ODI series loss against England, Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis has described the recent matches as an ‘eye opener’ for the country’s cricket board. Waqar suggested that there is an immediate need for the Pakistan Cricket Board ( PCB) and National Cricket Academy (NCA) to hire foreign coaches if they want to improve his side’s performance, the Express Tribune reported. The 44-year-old further insisted that the top domestic players should be groomed as per the international standards so that they could benefit the team in the future. Speaking on Pakistan next year’s tour to England, Waqar said that his side need rigorous preparation against the hosts. Earlier, Pakistan suffered a three-run defeat against England in a last over thriller in Dubai and thereby lost the three-match T20 series 0-2. The final match will be played in Sharjah on Monday.

Earlier, AFP reported that Pakistan‘s disappointed head coach Waqar Younis believed his young players were on a learning curve and will get better despite a one-day series defeat against England in United Arab Emirates (UAE). Pakistan went down by 84 runs in the fourth and final day-night international, handing the series to England 3-1 — their ninth series defeat in 11 since adopting the Gulf states as their neutral venues in 2009. Waqar said Pakistan started the series well, with a six wicket win in the first match in Abu Dhbai. “Of course, the ending was disappointing,” said Waqar. “We started off well but unfortunately we couldn’t finish it well. This is a young team and it’s a learning curve for them.”
