Wearing a helmet on ground in not an unusual sight on a cricket field. Batsmen, wicketkeepers and close-in fielders wear them for safety purposes.  In a first, Warren Barnes wore a helmet while bowling. Playing for Otago in New Zealand’s domestic T20 competition, Barnes wore a helmet in match against Northern Districts.

This comes in light after Nottinghamshire’s Luke Fletcher was hit on the head during his follow-through. He was immediately taken to the hospital and was out of commission till November. According to reports, the headgear that Barnes sports is designed by Barnes and Otago coach, Rob Walter.
