Wasim Jaffer‘s success story in domestic cricket continued. The 40-year old notched up his 53rd century and broke plethora of records en route on Day 1 of Irani Cup 2018. Jaffer was unbeaten on 113, ending Day 1 at 289 for 2. Jaffer was aggressive since the beginning of the match, especially after the dismissal of skipper Faiz Fazal, who scored a patient 190-ball 89.
Jaffer not only got a big score in the Irani Cup but also surpassed Gundappa Viswanath. When Jaffer went past the 50-run mark, he became only the second player after Viswanath to score six consecutive half-centuries in Irani Cup. Jaffer holds 595 runs from only 9 matches in this season for Vidarbha.
Jaffer’s innings was also lauded by VVS Laxman.
Really good to see Wasim Jaffer score another with so much ease. Its also great to see him so committed even at this stage of his career. #inspiration
Jaffer is currently racing to the 150-run mark along with his partner Ganish Satish who has already brought up his fifty against the Rest of India (ROI) side.
