After a long wait, England finally begin with their international matches. Their first assignment is against Sri Lanka. England first host Sri Lanka in the Only Twenty20 International at The Oval in London on May 20. The teams then play a five-match One-Day International (ODI) series starting from May 22. England and Sri Lanka then play a two-match Test series, which begins on June 12.
Sri Lanka are the reigning World T20 champions. They will be lead by Lasith Malinga. Sri Lanka will head into their first match without the services of Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara. The Sri Lankan legends retired after helping the Island Nation win the ICC World T20 2014 a few weeks back.
England too head into a new era. Eoin Morgan will captain the side and it will have some experienced heads in Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara and Tim Bresnan. They also have a lot of young and new faces in the line-up. Sri Lanka head into the contest as the favourites. Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal and Tillakaratne Dilshan will shoulder the responsibility as senior players.
