It’s a young team bustling with vibrant energy, and these young men have seen success. Indian cricket is in a happy space, thanks to the influx of youngsters. Two of these star players are KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. Rahul, for the first time in his career, has broken into the top 10 batsmen in ICC Test rankings for his remarkable consistency, slamming 7 consecutive fifties. Pandya meanwhile has already started drawing comparisons with the legendary Kapil Dev for his all-round skills. In just his third Test, Pandya slammed his maiden Test hundred off just 86 balls to help India clinch the series against Sri Lanka 3-0. After the Test, Rahul wore the questioner’s hat and interviewed Pandya. In a supposedly fun interview, Rahul and Pandya went on to reveal a lot of things from their funky hairstyles to their new celebration to Shikhar Dhawan’s new nickname. These young men like to have fun with their looks, while Pandya doesn’t mind dying his ash-grey or going blonde and Rahul sports a unique cut for this series. The Indian team have been seen celebrating with double victory style. Rahul revealed that it’s a dressing-room secret, and it was started by none other than Dhawan, who is quite reputed for his unusual funny mannerisms.
Dhawan is 31, which makes him amongst the oldest players in the Indian side, whose average age, is in the mid-20s. To remind Dhawan of his ageing self, the teammates have nicknamed him Daddy D. From Gabbar to Daddy D, now that’s quite a transition.
