August 30, 2016 will be the day which will always be remembered for England’s fiery batting against Pakistan in the third One-Day International (ODI) of the series at Trent Bride. It will also be remembered for poor bowling from Pakistani side. From the start of the game, Pakistan never showed up in the contest as England batsmen kept hammering them and posted the highest ever total in ODI cricket history of 444 with the loss of only three wickets.

In reply, only opener Sharjeel Khan showed some resilience from Pakistan side with his bat but after the fall of his wicket, one by one each player went back to pavilion. There was a time, when it was expected that England may register the biggest margin of victory in ODI cricket but thanks to number 11 batsman Mohammad Amir, who played courageous knock when there was nothing else to lose for his team. ALSO READ: Highest total by England and 12 more statistical highlights from England-Pakistan 3rd ODI at Trent Bridge

Batting at the last position for his team, Amir came at the crease when his side were nine down for 199 in 35.2 overs. Pakistan needed 246 runs more to win from 88 balls which was next to impossible task. Despite knowing that there was no chance of winning the game or getting close to the total, Pakistan pacer Amir batted very fearlessly and started hitting English bowlers all over the ground. Soon, he completed his half-century which included five fours and four sixes and that too in just 22 balls. This was the first fifty by a number 11 batsman in ODI cricket, also this was the 10th fastest fifty by a Pakistani player.
