When the game is heading towards serious mode, a comical incident adds to the relief of the spectators. This certainly was one of them but Bangladesh certainly did not see the funny side of this. One can remember how the Visakhapatnam dog during the India-England Test series forced an early tea break. This was another comical cricket moment. Bangladesh will be disappointed on losing the three-ODI series against New Zealand after the hosts won the second ODI at The Saxton Oval, Nelson. The way Sabbir Rahman was dismissed was one of the chaotic ones in cricket history. Bangladesh were chasing 251 and made decent start to their innings.

The hilarious incident took place when Bangladesh were 105 for 1. Sabbir was at the non-strikers end when Imrul Kayes played Mitchell Santner’s delivery towards short cover before running for quick single. On the other end, Sabbir responded immediately but decided it might go against the call. Rahman turned around and looked to return to the crease. Kayes out-ran Rahman and made it to the bowlers end in no-time and so did Rahman end up racing towards the same crease. Meanwhile, Luke Ronchi removed the bails on the other side, ending Sabbir’s innings for 38. Kayes felt he was the one dismissed amidst this chaos.

But the field umpires confirmed with third umpire that Sabbirwas the one who was dismissed. Kayes went on to score 59 and soon after his dismissal Bangladesh later surrendered at 184.

New Zealand clinched the series by 67 runs. The man of the hour in second ODI was Neil Broom with his maiden century in tough pitch conditions at Nelson. Trent Boult and Tim Southee combined efforts ended the Bangladesh innings within 42.4 overs.
