We have seen some interesting celebrations from bowlers after taking a wicket on the cricket field. The images of Imran Tahir running around the field, Tabraiz Shamsi unveiling his ‘bus-driver’ celebration, Shahid Afridi posing as Mr. X and, very recently, Hasan Ali displaying his ‘bomb-explosion’ celebration after taking a wicket are fresh in our minds. Then there have been others, who have entertained us with their post-wicket celebrations. And now, an English First-Class cricketer has joined the small group of such cricketers who are known for their weird celebration styles. Kent bowler Matt Coles recently shot to limelight with his celebration after taking a wicket during their clash with Northants.

The seamer, who is nicknamed ‘slug’, lived up to it when he unveiled his unique style of celebration while celebrating a wicket. After dismissing Steven Crook for 12 towards the end of the third day’s play at Beckenham, the bowler lied down on the ground and impersonated a caterpillar while moving forward. His act left Kent wicketkeeper and England international Sam Billings in splits once he saw Coles writhing around on the floor. It was Billings who shared the video of the act through his official Twitter handle.

There was more reaction from players after Billings posted the video on social media, with his England teammate Alex Hales calling it “incredible”, while Yorkshire bowler Jack Brooks posting “Oh wow!” The Division Two clash between Kent and Northants comes to an end on Thursday with a draw seeming almost certain.
