Mumbai all-rounder Shardul Thakur continued his brilliant form in the Ranji Trophy and tore apart Meghalaya’s batting order at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC in Mumbai on Thursday. Shardul’s hat-trick saw Meghalaya get restricted to 2/6.

Shardul took the hat-trick early in the third over by dismissing batters Balchander Anirudh, Sumit Kumar and Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva. The pacer finished with impressive figures of 4/43 in 11 overs as Meghalaya could only manage to put up 86 runs on the board.

Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane had won the toss and elected to field first. Shardul was handed the new ball in the first over itself and led the Mumbai attack in style. The seamer triggered Meghalaya’s batting collapse by picking up the wicket of Nishanta Chakraborty for 0 on the fourth ball of the match.

This superb bowling display comes after Shardul had carried Mumbai in the batting department in the previous match against Jammu and Kashmir with a sensational century. In a match where stars like Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to deliver, Shardul rose to the occasion and played a fabulous knock.
