Shoaib Malik is one of the senior most cricketers in today’s time. Malik has been an integral part of the Pakistan side since his debut in 1999. He did take retirement from Test cricket in 2015 but has never looked ageing in limited-overs cricket. Batting in the middle-order, Malik is someone who the young Pakistan team has been looking up to since past 2-3 years after a majority of senior players retired. With under a week left for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 to start, Malik has now found himself in a hot soup. The occasion was the Champions Trophy build up and Malik was answering his fans through the official ICC Twitter handle.
A certain fan (@Baquerali2) asked the 35-year old Pakistan veteran of who he thinks is the best bowler in India. The answer would have been simple had Malik chose to. “The best bowler in the Indian team is Mohammed Shami.”
Everything was fine till here. But to everyone’s and (even his) surprise the next words that came out of his mouth were just as shocking as were his expressions while saying.
Not because he’s a Muslim guy. I have seen his bowling, played against him also. For me, I find him tough. That’s why” Malik said.

The way he answered there seemed no spitefulness in Malik’s mind, but Twitter being Twitter and Twitterati needing just a reason to take someone’s case, Malik was trolled by some users.
Here are some of the tweets
@ICC @Baquerali2 Would ve agreed with him had he not entered religion on it. No need to get into religion to express ur fav.

@ICC @Baquerali2 This shows his mentality , how he sees people as muslim vs non-muslim
