After landing in England, the Indian Test team, now led by Shubman Gill, wasted no time getting down to business. The young side has already begun training, hitting the nets with focus and energy as they prepare for the five-match series. This tour also marks the beginning of India’s journey in the 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship cycle, adding extra significance to the challenge ahead.
With Rohit Sharma retiring from Test cricket, Shubman Gill has been named India’s 37th Test captain. Gill, who has featured both as an opener and at number three, has scored 1893 runs in 32 Tests at an average of 35.1, including five centuries and seven half-centuries.
