Women’s cricket is the fad. Mithali Raj’s swag, Chamari Atapattu doing a Kapil Dev, Ellyse Perry’s remarkable consistency and so on. ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017 is a hit, thanks to some extraordinary shows. But this is not World Cup. Internet trolls never miss opportunities to pounce on their favoured targets and it does not get any better if either of the Akmals are the subjects. Trolls can get on nerves, but Umar Akmal has a magnetic charm in attracting them with his unintentionally hilarious social media posts. From going berserk while dancing at weddings to posing with goat and Bentley, Umar can make the day for a depressed soul.
Umar has now found a novel way to get mocked. In an exhibition game at Norway, Umar made a mess of a simple delivery, eventually getting bowled by a young girl’s simple delivery.

Umar, 27, burst into the scene as a teenager in 2009 when he slammed 129 in his maiden Test innings against New Zealand at Dunedin. After 5 Tests, Umar had 555 runs at 55.5 and they came at a healthy strike rate of 68. Even in limited-overs cricket, he remained a vital cog of Pakistan’s batting before falling out of favour.
