Virat Kohli was in a highly charged mood during the Qualifier 1 match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing Indian Premier League on Thursday.
Although Rajat Patidar returned as the skipper of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), it was Kohli was seen setting up the field in first few overs. The 36-year-old not only executed strategies on the field but also inspired everyone with his unmatched energy and passion.
Virat Kohli didn’t hold back when it came to sledging PBKS batters. In fact, when Punjab brought in Musheer Khan as an Impact substitute following a complete top and middle-order collapse, Kohli targeted him with constant sledging.
Musheer Khan is the younger brother of Sarfaraz Khan, who made his IPL debut in Qualifier 1 for Punjab Kings. As Musheer stepped onto the field, Virat Kohli was seen referring to him as a ‘water-boy’. This gesture from the RCB veteran took the interent by storm and Kohli had to face a lot of backlash.
Some fans claimed that Kohli was ‘abusing’ the young Punjab Kings player by referring to him as a ‘water boy’.
What unfolded on the field, including Virat Kohli’s gestures was purely part of the game. In a high-stakes clash like Qualifier 1, it’s common for players to attempt to unsettle their opponents. With Musheer Khan being PBKS last batter, Kohli used every tactic to keep the pressure on and take his team towards complete dominance.
