Jerome Taylor has been dropped from West Indies’ squad for their final leg of the Tri-Nation Series 2016 involving Australia and South Africa. The final leg of the Tri-Series is set to be played at Barbados where each team will play the other and the top teams will qualify for the final. After the St Kitts and Guyana legs, Australia, West Indies and South Africa have two wins and two defeats each. Since West Indies conceded a bonus point against South Africa and Australia, the hosts are at the bottom of the table. Taylor’s exclusion, after taking only 2 wickets in West Indies’ first four games, was the only change to the squad that now comprises 13 players. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Australia vs South Africa, Match 7, Tri-Nation Series at Barbados
West Indies’ previous victory was against Australia at St Kitts. The hosts quite comfortably chased down Australia’s target of 266 with 26 balls and 4 wickets remaining. Australia’s Usman Khawaja’s efforts went in vain, who fell short of two runs for his maiden One-Day International (ODI) century earlier in the match. He got himself run out for 98 before skipper Steven Smith and George Bailey had taken charge of the runs. Both scored half-centuries but an impressive bowling effort from the hosts restricted Australia at 265 in 50 overs.
However, West Indies failed miserably in all departments when they faced South Africa next in the series. Hashim Amla’s 110 powered South Africa to 343 in the first innings before Imran Tahir ran through the West Indies’ line-up with an incredible 7 for 45 in nine overs.
